Refurbish or E Waste Recycle | 15″ Apple MacBook Pro A1286 2.66GHz i7 in 2020 Part 1

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for checking out my latest video on figuring out whether I will refurbish or e waste recycle a 15″ Apple MacBook Pro a1286 with the i7 processor in 2020.

In this video, I go through the preliminary stages of testing out the hardware of this 2020 15″ Apple MacBook Pro from the RAM and Hard Drive, all the way to the speakers and backlight of the keyboard.

As a result of my testing, I find out that this specific MacBook Pro suffers from a graphics issue which is very common from 2010 and 2011 15″ models. Unfortunately, during these years, it is speculated that Apple utilized a solder mixture which would liquify at lower temperature as compared to other solder solutions typically used on motherboards.

As such, although I did not get into the weeds of testing the MacBook Pro in Part 1, in Part 2, I will attempt to refurbish the MacBook Pro by reconnecting the GPU back onto the motherboard properly and see if it gives a different response when testing the GPU. If not, then Part 2 will be about e waste recycling this MacBook Pro A1286 and seeing how much value I can get out of it in 2020.

Thank you guys for checking out my video on whether I should e waste recycle or refurbish a 15″ Apple MacBook Pro A1286 in 2020. I greatly appreciate every view that comes to my videos and would appreciate it even more if you liked and subscribed to my channel if you would like to see more content like this!
